Established in 1956, Box Hill Hospital is one of Victoria’s largest acute hospitals, admitting more than 48,000 patients each year. The Box Hill Redevelopment Project involved a $450 million dollar investment from the Victorian Government to build on this existing infrastructure, by creating an entirely new, ten storey, clinical services building.
Lend Lease Engineering, reached out to CHW to provide assistance with additional ICT packages required for implementation at Box Hill. Our engagement involved design, procurement, and the project management of key technology packages determined in workshops with project stakeholders.
Critically, the overall project management group was able to leverage our expert understanding of ICT systems in order to coordinate the delivery and handover of systems which complied with all the various stakeholder requirements.
By establishing and facilitating stakeholder’s needs through workshops run prior to the detailed design phase of the project, we were able to provide sound consulting advice around the services they required, and establish how best to pursue an approach that achieved their desired outcome.
This new facility was officially opened in August 2014, with patients moving into the new space in September. This is another example of CHW’s ability to manage complex Stakeholder relationships to achieve a cost efficient and effective outcome.
CHW has been further engaged to assist in enabling their PCs to support Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) for faster, easier and better access to clinical information systems. VDI is one of the critical elements enabling Eastern Health and Box Hill Hospital to provision a completely digital and modern Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for their patients.
