Codan Limited is a company specialising in the manufacture and design of high quality communications, metal detection & mining technology. CHW Consulting was engaged to provide AV & ICT design services as part of Codan’s relocation to a refurbished facility located in Adelaide’s high-tech precinct, Technology Park. The first of its kind in Australia, Technology Park is the dedicated home to over 100 organisations focused on delivering the best and latest in technology.
As lead AV and ICT consultants, CHW oversaw the implementation of:
- New Local Area and Wireless Local Area Networks
- Integration of new ICT systems with existing Codan systems including telephony, servers & storage, wide area network connections, disaster recovery and security systems
- Wired & Wireless Network Access Control System
- New Staff BYOD and Guest Access Solution
- New Next Generation Threat Management Firewall Solution
- Transition and integration of existing Wide Area Network, VoIP Telephony, Servers, Appliances & Storage
- Sitewide digital signage solution
- Sitewide public address system
- Multiple flat panels, projectors and hybrid meeting, training and product demonstration rooms
- Corporate Boardroom with web conferencing capabilities
- Central Courtyard featuring a 4×4 LCD Video Wall and state-of-the-art display and presentation system
CHW Consulting worked closely with architects Christopher Parker Architects & Greenway Architects and lead services consultants Lucid Consulting to fulfil Codan’s desire for a premier facility that brought a campus feel to the workplace. The open plan space had been specifically designed to encourage collaboration and interaction and comprises of extensive meeting spaces and break out areas. In order not to detract from the stunning and modern interior architecture, all AV systems were discreetly integrated into the building. Within the boardroom, projectors and motorised screens were installed in ceiling recesses, allowing them to seamlessly integrate with the décor of the boardroom. This involved the manufacture and installation of a custom roof tile on the bottom of the projector lift.
At the centre of the Codan’s high tech facility is a covered courtyard which offers a calm oasis where employees can relax, eat and socialise. The area features numerous seating arrangements, BBQ facilities, pizza oven, bar, and outdoor games like table tennis. Presiding over the Courtyard is a large 4×4 LCD Video Wall equipped with microphones, front of house speaker arrays and an intuitive, iPad-based control system. The Wall can be used to watch sports events, conduct large-scale presentations via laptop connections, show dynamic digital signage content and, using a PTZ camera and microphones, allow senior company executives to address staff during AGMs and other major events.
In addition to a modern AV System, the Codan headquarters has an IT System to match. CHW Consulting designed a system that further streamlined workplace interactions and connections. The existing infrastructure has received a refresh and includes a new wireless LAN which provides 100% coverage to nominated areas. Codan employees are no longer confined to working on their desktops and have the bonus of bringing their personal devices to work and still being able to access the local network. Visitors to Codan headquarters also have access to WiFi through a guest access solution, allowing the smooth running of meetings with external partners, suppliers and clients. Security was a high priority, and all sensitive company data was protected by a new next generation threat management firewall solution.
CHW Consulting’s work on the Codan office facilities demonstrates our ongoing commitment to developing state of the art, interactive commercial spaces through the implementation of quality AV and ICT systems. Our involvement helped deliver a vibrant and highly collaborative workplace that will place Codan at the forefront of innovation and technological advancement.
